1st physician in Ohio to earn FDA sanctioned approval for Ultrasound Guided Carpal Tunnel Release
Dr. Shoreman was raised in Toronto and Kansas City, prior to ultimately settling down in Ohio during his medical training.
During medical training he was particularly drawn to musculoskeletal medicine. While training at THE Ohio State University, a program long renowned for its electrodiagnostics, he learned under some of the world’s most renowned electromyographers including the late Dr. Ernest Johnson (Johnson's Practical Electromyography), Dr. William Pease (Johnson's Practical Electromyography), and Dr. Jeffrey Strakowski.
Ultimately, he found a mentor in Dr. Strakowski, also an expert in musculoskeletal ultrasound, and the one who wrote the book on peripheral nerve ultrasound and correlation with electrodiagnostics. This inherently led to a passion for diagnostic/interventional ultrasound. Dr. Shoreman spent the great majority of his extracurricular time during residency with Dr. Strakowski sharpening his ultrasonographic skills.
Fellowship training in Cincinnati in particular had a strong focus on diagnostic/interventional ultrasound as well as regenerative medicine. Under the tutelage of Dr. Henry Stiene, one of the fathers of regenerative medicine in Ohio, Dr. Shoreman grew a passion for the exciting and expanding field of regenerative medicine.
In practice Dr. Shoreman has continued as passionate about the many innovative, minimally interventional, fiscally favorable treatment options that ultrasound offers patients today. He remains eager to keep up to date on modern evidence based musculoskeletal medicine, ideally offering patients all evidence based minimally invasive orthopedic treatment options that are currently available.
Fortunately, his passion for innovation as an attending led him to Dr. Jay Smith (The Mayo Clinic) and the good folks at Sonex Health who are at the tip of the spear of ultrasound guided orthopedics. Together with Dr. Smith and Sonex Health, Dr. Shoreman has introduced ultrasound guided carpal tunnel release to the state of Ohio. We look forward to introducing more minimally invasive ultrasound guided interventions to Ohio as innovation allows.
Outside of the office Dr. Shoreman enjoys spending as much time with his wife and kids as the day will allow. As his children grow he’s cherished coaching any particular activity they can get their hands on, and hopes to do so for years to come. Currently he is doing his best to assure that he, his loved ones, and patients alike are capable of enjoying the luxuries of a physically active lifestyle.
